KONFEKCJA 2018

Fotografie: Aga Murak, Alicja Kozak, Dawid Furkot (lookbook)

The garments were handcrafted by the designer using textiles characteristic of contemporary Poland, complemented by original patterns, prints, and knits. The diverse collection consists of fashion parodies, streetwear-inspired pieces, as well as local equivalents of Parisian “haute couture,” featuring abundant patchwork and experimental constructions. On the runway, set against the atmospheric backdrop of the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź, the following groups will appear: “Locals Who Aren’t From Here,” “Non-Locals Who Are Natives,” and “Locals Who Are Foreigners.”

By exaggerating local stereotypes and xenophobic fears, the designer presents Polish aesthetics in an exotic, hyperbolized, and exaggerated form—contrasting with local identity. This collection of unique garments was inspired by contemporary Łódź “folklore” and bridal and wedding attire.

A ready-to-wear collection presented every week for a month—I felt like my life was a fashion show.

1. The “Konfekcja” fashion show at KTW Fashion Week in Katowice, featuring 30 models—I played disco polo and opened the show myself in what the media described as a wild performance

2. My original performance “Show for One Model” during the Pomada Festival in Warsaw: I presented 30 looks all by myself and, of course, played music through my JBL speakers.

3.

The premiere show of Tomasz Armada’s “Konfekcja”: “LONG LIVE FREEDOM AND LIBERTY” — the “Konfekcja” show as part of the Łódź 4 Cultures Festival at the Central Museum of Textiles: over 30 looks from the collection were modeled by performers, artists, critics, and other art world figures. It took place on September 14, 2018, at the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź as part of the Łódź 4 Cultures Festival.
